The Campaign for Effective Patient Care was formed in 2009 with initial support from AARP, the California Association of Physician Groups and Blue Shield of California. These three organizations worked together toward achieving a universal system of health care during the 2007/2008 health reform efforts in California. Out of this work grew a recognition among the organizations of the opportunity to continue working together to make the delivery system reforms necessary to ensure that Californians have access to evidence-based, quality care. Kaiser Permanente joined the board in 2010. The Campaign for Effective Patient Care was created to promote policies that substantially increase the use of solid scientific evidence in the everyday practice of health care.
